Questions You May Have
What actually happens in a somatic counselling session?
Every session begins with a conversation about what's happening in your life and what feels most important to you that day. We work together at a pace that feels safe and respectful of your nervous system.

Unlike approaches that focus only on talking, somatic counselling also pays attention to how stress, emotions, and past experiences are held in the body. At times, I may invite you to notice your breathing, physical sensations, posture, or areas of tension—not to analyze them, but to better understand what your body is communicating.

There is no pressure to revisit painful memories before you're ready. Together, we gently explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and bodily experiences, helping you develop greater awareness, emotional regulation, and practical ways of responding to life's challenges.

Every session is unique and tailored to your needs. My role is to meet you where you are and help you move toward the life and relationships you want to create. You remain in control throughout the process. We'll never force insight or push you beyond what feels manageable.
What issues do you help with individual counselling?
Individual counselling can help with:
-
Anxiety, overwhelm, and chronic stress
-
Loss of a loved one and grief
-
Relationship patterns and attachment injuries
-
Trauma-informed healing and emotional regulation
-
Boundaries, self-worth, and people-pleasing
-
Life transitions and burnout
If I believe you’d benefit from a different level of specialized care, I’ll discuss referral options with you.
Are you covered by extended health benefits?
Some plans reimburse counselling with an RTC, while others don’t. Coverage depends on your specific plan details rather than the company name alone.  Providers where RTC services are commonly covered include (but are not limited to):
Pacific Blue Cross, Manulife, Sun Life Financial, Great-West Life, Green Shield Canada, Canada Life

The fastest way to confirm is to ask your provider whether they cover Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) services.Â
Please note:Â Currenty, I don't offer direct billing. Payment is made at the time of each session, and I provide receipts that you can submit to your extended health insurance provider for reimbursement, depending on your plan.
Can deep somatic and bodymind therapy really work online?
Absolutely. Co-regulation and the therapeutic dyad are rooted in presence, voice, and energetic safety—elements that translate beautifully over a secure video connection. Online sessions allow you to dive into this deep emotional work from the comfort and safety of your own space.
What’s the difference between a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) and a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)?
Both Registered Therapeutic Counsellors (RTCs) and Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) are trained mental health professionals who provide counselling and psychotherapy services. The main differences relate to their professional associations, training pathways, and regulatory structures.
